Coffee & Jam#268

September 18, 2018 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

Free

Coffee & Jam is Christchurch’s longest running weekly meet up for entrepreneurial-minded people. It’s a great place to see ordinary people doing extraordinary things, be inspired, network, and share in an innovative space.

Today’s speakers:

Peter Wells // Ōtākaro Orchard
Peter is a Seattle-native based in Christchurch and coordinates the Ōtākaro Orchard project: a hub for local food in the heart of Christchurch. With a background in arts & ecology, Peter specializes in creating urban food forests and is also engaged in connecting a thread of edible landscapes though the Ōtākaro Avon River Corridor. He’ll be talking to us about the Ōtākaro Orchard’s journey and some very exciting plans in store for the city.

2 – Simon Anderson // Job Ready Programme

Simon is Project Manager for the Job Ready Programme, an employability programme from ChristchurchNZ that has trained and mentored over 260 graduates so far. Simon works directly with local businesses identifying commercial needs and opportunities for internships and student projects. He’ll be speaking about how to connect to Job-Ready as an intern or as an employer in order to secure future skills in a city with a looming talent shortage of 73,500 workers.
