Coffee & Jam is Christchurch’s longest running weekly meet up for entrepreneurial-minded people. It’s a great place to see ordinary people doing extraordinary things, be inspired, network, and share in an innovative space.
Today’s speakers:
James grew up in Dublin, Ireland and completed an undergraduate degree in medical imaging. From there he traveled the world a bit before settling in New Zealand. He worked in medical imaging for a decade and completed a number of medical imaging post-graduate papers before moving into full-time medical imaging education at Ara Institute of Canterbury in Christchurch. He completed his tertiary teaching and learning qualifications at Ara and MSc at the University of Canterbury in 2015. In late 2015, having spotted a gap in the students’ educational needs, formed an EDtech company, Virtual Medical Coaching, which develops virtual reality simulation for use in training students intertwined with adaptive digital learning and machine learning software. The idea was not just to replace physical simulation but to make it at least 10 times better by incorporating a strong learning component behind the VR platform.
