SUMMARY:AI Adoption in Practice Meetup: How the early and late majority are actually using AI
DESCRIPTION:Some people are planning to build a cathedral…. when all they need (and will use) is a house. \nIn this session the talk will be around 30 minutes followed by Q&A\nAfterwards we’ll have an open discussion along with drinks/food at a nearby bar. \n—————— \nCat Moody is a Principal Consultant at MartinJenkins\, a New Zealand-owned advisory firm that works primarily with the public sector and is driven by a purpose of helping make Aotearoa New Zealand a better place.\nIn this session\, Cat will share practical insights from MartinJenkins’ own AI adoption journey\, alongside reflections on broader AI adoption trends emerging across public sector New Zealand organisations. The discussion will explore how a New Zealand-owned business has approached AI adoption\, what has proven useful in practice\, the challenges encountered along the way\, and what has been learned from surveying staff about their use of AI.\nThe session will also introduce some emerging thinking on AI maturity\, including the organisational capabilities and conditions that can help support successful adoption and how leading through this change is both similar and different to leading through other types of change.\nAttendees will gain a practical view of AI adoption in practice\, including lessons learned\, common challenges\, and considerations for organisations looking to move beyond experimentation towards more consistent and sustainable use of AI.

SUMMARY:Azure Meetup - From Prompt to Pipeline: Bringing AI into Real-World DevOps/Cloud Engineering
DESCRIPTION:AI demos are easy. Running AI reliably in production? That’s where things get interesting. \nIn this session\, Microsoft MVP Hamish Watson will show how DevOps practices are evolving to support AI-powered applications on Azure. We’ll look at the practical side of deploying and operating AI workloads — from prompt management and testing to infrastructure automation\, observability\, governance\, and cost control. \nUsing real-world examples with Azure OpenAI\, GitHub Actions\, and Infrastructure as Code\, this session explores how traditional DevOps concepts are being adapted for modern AI systems. \nJoin us on Tuesday 25 August from 6pm at EPIC for pizza\, networking\, and learning. Note: Some of the doors at EPIC lock at 5\, so please come in the Manchester Street entrance. \nIf you have a specific topic you would like to learn about (and/or present on) please fill out the form: https://forms.office.com/r/3PATUNdZpk. \nAgenda\n6:00 – Start of pizza and networking\n6:30 – Talks\n7:30 – Finish

SUMMARY:Roast & Toast
DESCRIPTION:🎉 Event: Innovators Meetup – Roast & Toast\nGot an idea\, startup\, side project\, or challenge that could benefit from some fresh perspectives? Or maybe you’re simply curious about what people are building and working on around Christchurch. \nJoin us for an evening of networking\, collaboration\, and constructive feedback with Christchurch’s innovators\, entrepreneurs\, creatives\, and problem-solvers. \n🤝 Networking\nMeet fellow entrepreneurs\, founders\, innovators\, creatives\, and community members over food and drinks. \n🔥👏 Roast & Toast\nOur signature interactive session where ideas are challenged\, refined\, celebrated\, and strengthened through community feedback. \nWhat is Roast & Toast?\nThe concept is simple: every great idea benefits from both encouragement and honest feedback. \n🔥 The Roast is the constructive part — thoughtful questions\, alternative perspectives\, identifying blind spots\, challenging assumptions\, and helping presenters think through problems. \n👏 The Toast is the celebration part — recognising what’s working\, highlighting strengths and opportunities\, and sharing useful resources\, connections\, or introductions.\nThe goal isn’t to tear ideas down. It’s to help people leave with new insights\, useful connections\, and practical next steps. \n🚀 Roast & Toast Format\nWe’ll have 4–5 innovators\, each with up to 10 minutes to introduce an idea\, project\, startup\, or challenge they’re currently working through.\nIf you’re one of our pitchers\, we’ll send you a short \npre-event Roast & Toast form to complete before the meetup; https://forms.gle/gEU66JNfthWSFFnw8 \nYou don’t need a perfectly polished pitch or slide deck. The form simply helps you tell us: \n\nwhat you’re working on;\nwhere you’re currently at;\nwhat challenge or question you’re trying to solve;\nwhat you’d particularly like the room to Roast; and\nwhere you’d like a Toast\, opportunity\, resource\, or connection.\n\nWe’ll use that information to help guide the conversation on the night so you’re getting feedback that’s actually useful to you. \n👥 After each pitch\, we’ll open things up to the room for constructive feedback\, questions\, ideas\, resources\, and introductions.\nWhether you’re validating an early idea\, building a startup\, working through a product problem\, exploring a new venture\, or simply keen to learn from what others are doing\, you’ll find a welcoming community ready to help. \n🍕 Food & Drinks\nThere’s no sponsor covering food or drinks for this event\, so this one is BYO — feel free to bring along whatever you’d like to eat or drink while you enjoy the evening. \nCome along\, bring your curiosity\, and be part of the conversation. \n📍 Location: EPIC Innovation Centre\, Christchurch CBD\nAccess via Manchester Street.
