DESCRIPTION:Lab5 powered by Christs College is a program that takes Year 10 students out of class for the week and immerses them into the local entrepreneurial scene and community.  Through social entrepreneur speaker panels\, innovation tours\, workshops\, networking events\, mentor sessions and presenting to a crowd students will learn skills such as leadership working in a team\, communication and building ongoing resources to further their idea. \nThe students will be based in the EPIC lounge Mon-Wed mornings & until 3pm on Thursday. This event is not open to the public. \n\n

After the break\, Brett Oliver will discuss Astrolab\, which aims to propel public and private sector innovation in a number of ways.\nAnd remember\, we are back at EPIC! \nBerwyn Hoyt // HiveMind Ltd \nBerwyn is the senior hardware engineer at Brush Technologies and director of HiveMind\, a remote beehive monitoring system for beekeepers. The system measures the weight of the hive and transmits this data via satellite back to servers where HiveMind collate the information to provide a graph that shows honey being produced. \nBrett Oliver // CEO at Astrolab \nBrett is the CEO at Astrolab and has 10+ years’ experience in commercialisation & innovation activities. Roles include composite materials engineering\, venture capital due-diligence\, commercial and property finance\, technology auditor and advisor at KPMG\, commercialisation manager at NZ’s largest research organisation\, and North Island Manager of Commercialisation\, NZ national health innovation initiative.
